The Panzer 38(t), originally manufactured by the Czechoslovakian company ČKD (later BMM), became an integral part of the German Wehrmacht following Czechoslovakia's annexation in 1939. The Panzer 38(t) series was known for its mechanical reliability, mobility, and ease of maintenance, making it a valued asset in early World War II campaigns.
 
The Ausf. E variant represented an evolution in the series, featuring enhancements to armor and other mechanical improvements. The Panzer 38(t) Ausf. E was equipped with a 37mm KwK 38(t) L/47.8 gun and a 7.92mm MG 37(t) machine gun, continuing to prove its effectiveness on various fronts, especially in the early stages of Operation Barbarossa.
