The PAK36 (Panzerabwehrkanone 36) was the standard German anti-tank gun at the beginning of WWII. Introduced in 1936, it saw extensive use during the early stages of the war. However, as Allied armor improved, the PAK36 struggled to penetrate thicker armor, leading to its gradual replacement by more powerful guns. Despite this, it remained in service for infantry support and against lighter vehicles.
